Continuing a Search on the PartQuest Portal

You can continue a part search using the PartQuest Portal website from the design entry tool.

Example 1 shows an example of starting a search in the design entry tool Search window with no results found, and then continuing the search on the PartQuest Portal (portal.partquest.com).

Example 1. Continuing a Search on the PartQuest Portal

Prerequisites

  • The PartQuest button is enabled (choose Setup > Settings menu item, click Advanced category, select “Show PartQuest button in Search” option).

  • Your computer meets the PartQuest Portal system requirements. See the topic describing "System Requirements" in the PartQuest Portal Release Highlights.

  • You have a Siemens account.

Procedure

  1. Open the Search window by choosing the Edit > Find and Replace > Search menu item.
  2. From the Search window, open a new Search tab by clicking the tab at the bottom of the window, and then choosing the Create Search > General menu item.

  3. (Optional) From the Search General window tab, set the search scope (data sources), search settings, and parameters.
  4. From the upper-right tool bar in the Search window tab (see Example 1), click the (Continue search on PartQuest portal) button.
    Note:

    If you are not logged in with your Siemens account, you are prompted to log in. Follow the directions to either log in or create a Siemens account.

Results

The design entry tool opens the default web browser, loads the PartQuest Portal Search page, and then displays search results based on the parameters you supplied.

You are now ready to download part data as an EDX package file (*.edx) or add the part to the project.
